Are you in the midst of planning your Texas wedding but you have no idea what to look for in a venue?
You’re touring all these places and at some point they all start to either look and sound the same? After shooting so many weddings I can pretty much say, I’ve seen it all and I’m here to let you in on a few key things to keep in mind next time you go on wedding venue tours!
First thought to keep in mind would be if you are thinking of an outdoor ceremony. If you’re in Texas you want to make sure you plan around the hottest months of the year to avoid the heat for an outdoor ceremony. While touring your venue, ask where the sun will be at during your ceremony time. This is huge to making your photos look as dreamy as possible. This photo was taken at Dry Creek Gatherings, their ceremony site allows the sun to set right behind you. This is one of my favorite venues!
Another thing to think about would be the Getting Ready Area. This one is so important for photos as well, the brighter the room the better images your photographer will be able to capture. It’s important to make sure you take into consideration how much light the grooms suite receives. I would consider this since most venues tend to make this room a little darker. Think, the more windows the better!
Of course we can’t forget the big exit at the end of the night. With sparkler exits being the most popular way to exit your venue, most venues actually don’t allow this. So making sure beforehand if this is an option for you guys is super important, if they do allow it, awesome! If the venue doesn’t allow it then you will have the chance to see if its something you can let go of and do something else instead for your exit!
I hope this makes your touring a little easier on you guys. Wedding planning is the most exciting time so enjoy every minute of it!
